Usage of high quality pedagogy including hotel and restaurant visits commercial resources and purchase points of examination quizzes case analysis and role plays.

Mock interviews, group discussion, general knowledge, positive self talk, personality development, inculcate healthy reading habits, Self Confidence and Self Expression classes.

Hotel Industry Collaboration - lectures and workshops are arranged on Total Quality Management, Service Excellence, Cost of Customer Dissatisfaction, Financial Resource Planning, Planning for Profits and Yield Management.

Subject on organic growth of hotel chains in India viz, The Oberoi, The Taj, The ITC Welcomgroup and its Sheraton partner, The Hyatt Regency, The J.W.Marriott, The Intercontinental, The French Meridien chain, The Holiday Inn, The Hilton, The Raffles and the Four Season and Amman Resorts. These are world famous hotel chains committed to the highest degree of service excellence.


 
FACULTY STUDENTS INTERACATION:
 

The Hotel Academy has a culture of facilitating and supporting students in all their activities. The Academy ensures academic rigour the frequency and intensity of interactions between students and faculty being high. This includes "in class" and "out of class" interaction. The faculty support and guide students in most of their curricular and co-curricular activities.

The Hotel Academy is one of the few Hotel Management Institutes, which has institutionalized faculty coaching/mentoring/counseling systems under which students are encouraged to meet faculty regularly so as to discuss their academic as well as non-academic concerns and issues.

The Hotel Academy has developed an instrument for self assessment for students, which they share and discuss with their 'mentor' faculty every term.

Students undergo industrial training for 6 months which is an accelerated exposure program in excellent professionally managed hotel chains. A project is completed on hotel operation, policies and business strategies adopted to higher their bottom lines and volumes. The project is presented after review, and faculty examines the student for his/her know how, grasp and careful observations made during this tenure.

The Hotel Academy stages an annual Food Festival event, which is highly rated with active guidance of faculty members, on theme creation, cuisine, service, ambience and hospitality excellence in sync with specialized trends of similar food carnivals held in Hotels. An Italian, Greek, Jamaican, Cajun & Creole, Pan-Asian, Polynesian, Mughalai, Goan, Malabar, Chettinad - authentic cuisine and their preparations were served to the guests and students.

 
AUTONOMY AND INDEPENDENCE:
 

The Hotel Academyenjoys full autonomy and independence in Academics and the following observations need careful attention.

The Hotel Academy is fully autonomous in all academic matters, faculty recruitment, programs, outbound learning tours, admissions, curriculum design, course offering, evaluations, assessment and award of Diplomas.

The Hotel Academy is not affiliated to any University in India, so it is not constrained by bureaucratic rigidity in revising and updating its curriculum and facilitating learning in a simple, direct, honest method. However, The Hotel Academy is very fastidious about authencity, quality of inputs and teaching standards.

The Hotel Academy is a 'faculty run' institution, focused on faculty development, which in turn will pass on useful practical inputs to its students. Faculty committees are responsible and accountable for managing its academic activities. Its curriculum undergoes a half yearly review by experts. Course offerings are renewed every year. Admission standards are continuously fine tuned.

What does it mean to our Stakeholders?

The Hotel Academy has to meet market needs and industry needs - otherwise, we would not be able to earn and retain our premium image in the market.

It should constantly innovate and create, fine tune through fresh thinking on courses and syllabus, pedagogy and its curriculum is current, responsive to the emerging need of the industry.

We provide an enabling atmosphere for creativity, and new venture creations in order to achieve first class business results. The required competencies for an entrepreneurial personality, such as "risk taking", ability to "see the big picture", responsibility with accountability are developed.

Hotel Management and Catering Technology education focuses on enabling students:

Student Self Assessment Scheme, coupled with Faculty coach / Mentor system.

Every graduating student at The Hotel Academy is able to adapt and integrate himself with hotel or catering organization more fully and more readily.
